"HOW DO YOU SCORE A FUCKING POINT?!" -Craig 2019
Alright listen up, you beautiful degenerates:
This format is about points, not lowest score.
Each hole gives you a chance to earn points, and every 9 holes you and your partner can add up to +2 points if you win your match. That means a player who shoots 100 can still beat someone who shoots 90.
The goal is to keep everyone competitive—one bad hole (or a few) won’t take you out of contention.
I know the 3rd grade math required for this whole “scoring system” thing might not be everyone’s bag of balls, and that’s okay. You are not required to understand it, believe in it, or even acknowledge its existence. But without it, how can there be a champion to win this trophy?
Here’s the deal:
I’ll handle all the nerd stuff and calculate points at the end of each day.
Your only job—your one responsibility in this world—is to count your strokes correctly. That’s it. Don’t overthink it.
We’re playing Best Ball, which means:
-
Best ball is a golf team format where each player plays their own ball throughout the entire hole.
-
The team records only the lowest individual score among its members for each hole.
-
You and the person in your cart are a team (yes, even if you don’t like them)
-
There’s team scoring AND individual scoring happening behind the scenes like magic
If this still sounds confusing, perfect—ignore it.
Just swing, count, and occasionally high-five your cart partner.
I’ll take care of the rest.
Personal Scoring
(All 4 players in the group compete individually)
-
Bogey = 1 pt
-
Par = 2 pts
-
Birdie = 3 pts
-
Eagle = 4 pts
Team Match
(Front & Back Scored Separate)
Each 2-man team plays match play
-
Win = 2 points each player
-
Tie = 1 point each player
-
Loss = 0 points
Okay, if you made it this far, maybe you're interested in scoring. Here's a 9 hole example.On the first hole, a par 4, Goon had 4 strokes, worth 2 pts. Beechard and Townsend 5 strokes, worth 1 point, and Lipsky with a 6, for no points.

Team Points: For the first hole, use Goon's score since it's the lowest for his team, and Jay's score since it's the lowest for his team. This means Goon and Beechard won that hole. At the end of 9 holes, which ever team has the most holes won, wins 2 points per player.
Goon's score at the end of 9 holes would be: 19
17 is his score for strokes
2 is his score for winning the team match
Townsend's score at the end of 9 holes would be: 14
14 is his score for strokes
0 is his score for losing the team match
Beechard's score at the end of 9 holes would be: 12
10 is his score for strokes
2 is his score for winning the team match
Lipsky's score at the end of 9 holes would be: 5
5 is his score for strokes
0 is his score for losing the team match
Whoever has the most points at the end of Day 3, takes home the trophy.
